TREeEeEeE

Playing with photoshop. I put together a panorama but the top of it was so overexposed so I started messing with it instead....

The Kattsson

The Kattson is turning into a very nice and fun Kitty!

I walked in on her sleeping upside down, CUTE!

But then she escaped to the wild outdoors!
CRAAAAAAP!

Just kidding, there was a kitty outside that looked like Kattson

Here is Kattson looking out the window at the impersonator...

Week in pictures

Hmmm what has happened this week?

On Monday my lab group and I, Group 3some (cause there's 3 of us!), did our last experiment for the course Experimental Phonetics! We studied the eye movements of a listener when presented with a distorted speech signal. Do listeners look at mouth movements more often than the rest of the face when they are presented with a speech signal that is difficult to make out? Of course they do!
Here is Mary instructing our lovely test subject, Annie, on what to do.

These are Annie's eye as they were picked up by the eye tracker.

I also rode the subway a lot, just like I do every week.

Riding down the escalator to get to the subway.

Some advertisements by the platform to check out while I'm waiting.

On Thursday Max, Helena, and I saw ballet Coppélia at the opera house.

"The story of Coppélia concerns a mysterious and faintly diabolical inventor, Doctor Coppélius who has made a life-size dancing doll. It is so life-like that Frantz, a village swain, is infatuated with it, setting aside his true heart's desire, Swanhilde, who in Act II shows him his folly, by dressing as the doll and pretending to come to life. If Mary Shelley's Frankenstein represents the dark side of the theme of scientist as creator of life, then Coppelia is the light side. If Giselle is a tragedy set in a peasant village, then Coppélia is a comedy in the same setting."
It was really funny!

We had some wine in the pause.

Friday night involved more alcohol when Max and I started a beer club. It was sort of a joke throughout the night but I decided it needed to be for real. For more info on our beer club visit: http://friendsofbeer.blogspot.com/

We tried a French beer called La Goudale which was supposed to taste like, among other things, Jasmine rice. Yeah... maybe. We had a Belgian beer called Orval and last a Swedish Christmas beer that smelled like cardemom called Jul Mumma.

Then Max' roommate added to the decadence with some feminine Polish cigarettes called "She"

The next day the weather was nice for the first time in about a month. 10 C° warm and not a cloud in sight. I rode my bike to the lake that is about a 10 min ride from my apartment.

And last, some proof that the mean cat isn't so mean anymore and actually let's me pet her.

Cute!

DOGSDOGSDOGSDOGSDOGSDOGS!!!!!

Ok so this phlog may be on it's way to turning into a what Kelly thinks is weird/funny/interesting/etc. blog + photos I like. BUT, I had to share two funny things with all of you.
First, Blogspot has a random blog function. It should be up at the top and says "next blog". Well they claim that it's supposed to take me to pages that are similar in content to my blog. I ended up going through about 50 blogs about dogs, and a couple about cats. Some samples of Blog names....

The SunTrip Samoyeds and A Border Collie

Sashaville
This is about the life of Sasha, a Siberian Husky, who lives in Philadelphia, PA

Charlie's dog blog

EYE OF THE PUGZ!

Coton Tales with Bebe ! The Coton de Tulear is a small, rare breed dog.

d.o.g.'s world  through the looking glass....

Dogs of Melbourne

(this last blog seems to be some person who takes photos of any dog in Melbourne they come across)

So either I've somehow tricked Blogspot into thinking my blog is all about DOGS! Or people are only blogging about their dogs. Or in Melbourne's case, everybody elses.

Then I found one weird blog of this lady who dresses her babies up and they look really creepy.  http://www.thedailyevie.com/?expref=next-blog

Ok, so the second funny thing is wayyyyy funnier.

I was at my swim class today getting changed and this woman has her swim cap on, and her swim goggles around her neck and starts to head out towards the pool and then she says out loud "oh yeah! i should probably put my bathingsuit on first"

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Man, I laughed for so long imagining her walking out to the pool naked. Good thing she remember her swimsuit!

So ugly it's almost cute? Maybe not...

Long Live the Mole Rat. Scientists are studying naked mole rats to see if their extraordinary lifespan of up to 28 years and ability to avoid getting cancer could be of relevance to human health and longevity. Researchers found that the mole rats' cells have a double system for inhibiting irregular proliferation, compared with the single system in human cells.

My camera has been fixed and now I'm promising myself to have my camera with me at all times for at least a whole month! So keep coming back!
Also, don't forget you can click the photos for better detail, for most of the ones that have some kind of writing in them, it's essential.
I've also changed the settings for comments, so feel free to leave as many comments as you want.
